START-UP PACKET



This packet pertains to those seeking membership into D-CUUPS (The Denton chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans), or getting on our e-mail list.
 

1) HOW TO BECOME INFORMED OF UPCOMING EVENTS:

The first resource that you should be aware of is our yahoogroups.com (formerly egroups.com) page and email list. To sign up on this list (even if you are not joining) is the first most important thing to do, simply so that you will be informed of our upcoming events. The page also has a cut-and-dried, printable version of our "Bylaws" and "Mission Statement". You can find these documents at:

2) HOW TO JOIN THE D-CUUPS EMAIL LIST:

If you are not a member of yahoo groups already, then go to the main site and sign up; it doesn't take long, and it's free:}

However, if you are already registered with yahoogroups, simply sign up on the D-CUUPS list, it is open to anyone and everyone. Just please do not post anything to the site besides relevant pagan announcements and events. We will have either a seperate discussion list or message board coming soon for all other member discussions or conversations.

3) HOW TO JOIN D-CUUPS:

The very first thing to do is read our "Mission Statement" and our "BYLAWS". These will tell you all you need to know about the group and how to join (if you so feel moved), including fees and websites you need to be familiar with. Please read both documents thoroughly before deciding to join. We also ask that you attend a few of the open circles (at least one)/and/or social mixers before committing to join, so that you can make sure you are comfortable with the rest of the group and get a feel for everyone before signing on. We then ask you to have a short informal meeting with the officers making sure that you have:

A) Become a paying member of the national CUUPS group and recieved your membership card. B) Read, completely understand, and agree with all of the terms and conditions outlined and explained in our Mission statement and Bylaws.

C) Have joined and become an active member of a UU fellowship/church/group. For those who are not comfortable with joining a church, we ask that you look into the Church of the Larger Fellowship. Please do not join DUUF unless you actually intend to be an active and productive member of the Fellowship. DUUF must pay $30 minimum per member per year to the UUA, and we as D-CUUPS do not want people joining the Fellowship ONLY as a prerequisite to joining D-CUUPS. The Church of the Larger Fellowship is a web based church group that is for anyone in the U.S. who is too far from a UU group to attend, or who is uncomforable joining those available to them.

and then finally, we will ask you to pay your pro-rated membership fee and sign our membership book (indicating you agree with and understand all of the terms of our By-laws).
