Mission and Covenant Statement of The Bridge

We, the members of The Bridge, acknowledging the power of spirit, the importance of living in harmony with the Earth’s cycles, and the vast resources found in the many traditions of Pagan and Unitarian Universalist spiritual practice do covenant and affirm our commitment to one another to work together to create and maintain a safe and loving space within which to share our lives and our spiritual quests in True Community. Toward this end, we commit our combined actions and personal, emotional, and spiritual resources to:

* Promoting the practice and understanding of Pagan and Earth-centered spirituality within the Unitarian Universalist Association
* Enabling networking among Pagan-identified Unitarian Universalists
* Promoting interfaith dialogue
* Encouraging the development of theological and liturgical materials based on Pagan and Earth-centered religious and spiritual perspectives
* Increasing awareness and understanding of Paganism and Earth-centered spirituality within the surrounding community
* Providing an environment conducive to spiritual growth, exploration, and education in Pagan and Earth-centered spirituality
* Encouraging creativity, unique expression, and personal interpretation within each individual’s spiritual path

All those seeking on an Earth-centered path are welcome to join us for any of our public events and meetings. Those who wish to make a more formal commitment to the groups as a Member must meet three requirements. They must:

1.      Be at least 18 years of age or older. **

2.      Sign the chapter membership book indicating their agreement with our Mission and Covenant Statement, as well as the Unitarian Universalist Principles and the vision statement of CUUPS.

3.      Pay their yearly dues of $20 per person.

Though not a requirement for membership in Denton CUUPS, membership in the national CUUPS organization is encouraged.  Membership applications can be found at www.cuups.org .

If an individual in the organization acts in a consistently inappropriate, destructive, or disrespectful manner at CUUPS events, the members can vote to revoke membership with a two-thirds majority.

** MINORS (under 18) – In an effort to avoid conflict between parents of one religious tradition and children who may be exploring another, the members of the chapter request that any minor (under 18) attend only with a parent or guardian.

Below is a copy of the National Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagan's Mission Statement. Much of it is the same as ours. However, it is important to note that in order to be a member of The Bridge, you must not only agree to our Bilaws and Mission but the greater CUUPS' Vision Statement as well.
